Our History
ServiceMark was founded in 1995 by local entrepreneur and philanthropist Larry Stewart, telecommunications veteran Bruce Gibbs, and technical guru Marty Granaman. Larry, Bruce, and Marty nurtured a culture within ServiceMark of always putting the customer first, providing a great place to work and giving back to the community. Building on that culture is how ServiceMark became recognized as a Top Business Telephone Solutions Provider in the Kansas City region.
From 1995 – 2020, ServiceMark provided only NEC Phone System Solutions. Periodically throughout this time, we considered other manufacturers’ solutions, but NEC’s systems were the most reliable, providing uncompromised quality. NEC’s systems gave us the ability to be the best at installing and servicing reliable, scalable phone systems that met the different business needs of our clients. Our loyalty to NEC lasted for 25 years and ServiceMark was the only “Double Diamond” NEC Associate in Greater Kansas City, as a result of our total annual sales and our commitment to ongoing technical training and certifications.

Why ServiceMark is a Superior Choice Over Other Communication Solution Providers

Since 2020, the on-premises phone systems have been a thing of the past and we focus all our efforts on Cloud based phones system like Intermedia Unite, Zoom phone system and Zoom Contact center, Net2Phone, and Omaa. We still support all of our NEC on-premises phone system customer, but NEC is no longer selling new systems. When Covid hit in 2020, the world was changed, and businesses need the flexibility to work from anywhere and communication with customer with more forms of communication like SMS text messaging. On-premises phone systems don’t offer these features that our customer was demanding and we pivoted quickly to cloud based phone system and never looked back. Cloud-based phone systems have so many features that can benefit our customers with internal communication and communication with their customers. We work with our customers to show them all the ways we can help them take advantage of these new exciting features to grow their business and streamline internal work flow.
Business phone system design, implementation, and support is our core business, but we also help our customers investigate internet and SDWAN solutions with many different great providers to find the best fit for their company and to ensure our phone systems have a great network to ride across. Having a great network is such an important part of a successful project and we help our customers by providing many options and prices from multiple provides so they don’t need to deal with the carriers individually. Once a provider is selected, Servicemark will manage that portion of the project as well to make sure the installation is installed in a timely manner to coincide with the phone system project.
Our Leadership Team
Bruce Gibbs, Co-founder and President
Bruce co-founded ServiceMark in 1995 alongside Larry and Marty; a lifetime resident of the Kansas City community, he has worked in the Kansas City telecommunications industry since 1981.
Marty Granaman, Co-founder and Vice President of Technical Services
Marty has worked in the telecommunications industry since 1986 and is the technical arm that launched ServiceMark in 1995. Marty will be responsible for managing the technicians programming and testing your system throughout the installation process.
Ryan Maxwell, Sales Engineer
Ryan Maxwell joined ServiceMark Telecom in 2004 and became a part of the Ownership group at Servicemark in 2009. He is a lifetime resident of the Kansas City community and has been active in the Information Technology industry since 1999. Ryan background in IT helps him understand customers technology challenges and helps him bring forth solutions to overcome those challenges and help our customer thrive.

Shelby Doumitt, Director of Operations and Project Manager
A native resident of the Kansas City area, Shelby attended the University of Central Missouri before transferring and graduating from the University of North Texas. She is a gifted administrator who has been employed with ServiceMark for over 15 years. Shelby is responsible for “blueprinting” your phone system’s implementation, from documenting the installation and programming details to scripting automated attendant and voicemail prompts. This level of detailed planning enables ServiceMark’s technical team to deploy the system according to your expectations and serves as the basis for end-user training guides and system administrator documentation.

Patrick Stone – Network Engineer and Senior Technician
Pat joined the ServiceMark team in 2007 as a network administrator, but also maintains current telephone system certifications. Patrick grew up in Jefferson City, Missouri and earned his master’s degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Missouri. Pat will be responsible for collaborating with your IT Vendor to oversee the installation or necessary modifications to your data network infrastructure.
Dave Johnson, Senior Technician
Dave Johnson has been a technician with ServiceMark Telecom for more than 28 years. He brings a variety of knowledge and experience to the technical team and also shines in the area of customer service.

Jenny Schroeder, Trainer & Provisioning Coordinator of Carrier Services
Jenny studied Film and Performing Arts in Los Angeles, California. In 2014 she rejoined her roots in the heart of Kansas City where she grew up, joining the ServiceMark Telecom team in 2015. Jenny’s aptitude and interest in technology, combined with her acting experience and natural bubbly personality, make her a natural choice for providing our customers with highly tailored training and documentation for end users and system administrators. Jenny is also part of our Project Management team handling project design and porting of phone numbers.
Rebecca Tittle, Accounting and Operations Support
Rebecca Tittle is another life-long Kansas City area resident. She joined ServiceMark Telecom in 2013 and quickly became an invaluable asset, not only as operations support that includes accounting and bookkeeping but also as an incredible customer service person. Many customers refer to Rebecca as their “best friend!”

Brian Gwin, Structured Cabling Manager
Brian has been in the cabling installation industry since starting in 1994 as an installer; he now oversees the installation department. He ensures that your project follows the practices outlined by current cabling installation standards.
Tom Campbell, Structured Cabling Operations Manager, RCDD
Tom has over 25 years in the industry and is responsible for the successful completion of all projects, from project scheduling and coordination and materials procurement to the supervision of the installation. Additionally, Tom has recently been awarded the status as a BICSI Registered Communications Distribution Designer (RCDD), which is the highest achievement in the cabling industry.
Information Technology Services
AJ Hembree, IT Network Services Manager
AJ has been in the IT installation industry since starting in 1996; he now oversees our IT Services department. He oversees our projects that include IT services like Firewall, switches, WIFI access points, Video Surveillance, and Sound Masking. He also manages our IT services technical department that provides support on these technologies including desktop support for customers.
