NOTE: The instructions below apply to NEC DT800 IP Phones and NEC DT400 Digital Phones on the NEC SV9100 telephone system with InMail as well as NEC DT700 IP Phones and NEC DT300 Digital Phones on the NEC SV8100 Phone System.
There are a couple of different ways to transfer a call to another co-worker’s extension.
Let’s first talk about how to transfer an incoming call with a hotline key:
- While on the line with the outside caller…
- Locate and press the hotline key for the co-worker you want to receive the call and hang up to transfer the call.
- This will ring the co-worker’s phone and they can choose to:
- Answer the call
- They may let the call roll to their voice mailbox if they are not available, based on system preferences.
- They may let the call recall back to the person who transferred the call, based on system preferences.
Second let’s talk about how to transfer an incoming call and announce the call to your co-worker:
- While on the line with the outside caller…
- Locate and press the hotline key for the co-worker you want to receive the call, but do not hang up just yet.
- When your co-worker answers, you may announce the caller and provide any important information about the caller privately, while the caller is holding.
- If your co-worker is available to receive the call, simply hang up to transfer the call.
Third, let’s talk about how to transfer an incoming call to a co-worker without a hotline key:
- While on the line with the outside caller…
- Press the transfer key
- Dial co-workers extension number
- Choose whether to announce the call or directly transfer the caller before hanging up.
